VoIP and traditional: TalkSwitch gives you both
The 484vs is a hybrid system, with capacity for VoIP and traditional telephone connections. You can save with VoIP services and VoIP inter-branch connections without sacrificing your connection to the traditional telephone network. It's the best of both worlds.
Remote extensions keep you connected
Your work doesn't stop at the office, and neither does TalkSwitch. Any phone, anywhere, can be added as a remote extension of your system. Cell phones, home phones and phones in other offices can be reached with simple 3-digit dialing, and calls can be seamlessley transferred and screened. With remote extensions, your customers, employees and partners can always stay connected.
Ready to grow with you
Like all TalkSwitch systems, the TalkSwitch 484vs is ready to grow. It comes with capacity for 4 traditional telephone lines, 4 VoIP trunks and 8 local extensions, but you can increase capacity any time by networking it with other TalkSwitch units to a maximum capacity of 16 traditional phone lines, 16 VoIP trunks and 32 local and 40 remote extensions.
Easy to set up
Whether you do it yourself or rely on a professional, TalkSwitch installation is fast and easy, saving you time and money. Plus, all of your call handling settings are configured on the included user-friendly Windows software, so it's a snap to make TalkSwitch work the way you want it to, and you don't have to pay a technician every time you move or add an employee.

Phone Freedom
Unlike most PBX systems, TalkSwitch doesn't tie you down to proprietary telephones. TalkSwitch systems work with standard analog phones and selected IP phones, so if you already have telephones, chances are they'll work with TalkSwitch. If you do need phones, check out our line of analog telephones tailor-made for TalkSwitch.

Voicemail
With remote message notification, forwarding capabilities, voicemail-to-e-mail options and additional general-use mailboxes, TalkSwitch voicemail puts you in control. And because it's built in, you don't have to pay every month for voicemail services.
Each TalkSwitch unit has one voice mailbox per local extension, one for each remote extension and 10 general-use mailboxes. Units come with 25 minutes of voice memory that gets shared between mailboxes and auto attendants.
Remote notification and voicemail to e-mail
You can receive automatic notification at your cell phone, pager or any other external phone when new voicemail arrives, in addition to the message waiting indicator on your desk telephone. You can also have your TalkSwitch notify you by e-mail and include the voicemail in an audio file.
Upgradeable voicemail memory
Voicemail message time can be increased by 1, 2, 4½ or 9 hours by adding voicemail memory cards.
Additional voicemail features
- Stamps each message with the date and time received.
- Retrieve your messages from any telephone, inside or out of the office.
- Voicemail forwarding to other voice mailboxes.
- Includes the option to play announcements without allowing callers to leave messages.
Auto Attendants
The TalkSwitch auto attendant answers your phone and offers callers a range of interactive touch-tone choices that you configure any way you want. Your callers receive consistent, professional treatment even when you're out or busy, and you save the time, money and frustration of answering and directing calls.
There are 9 levels of auto attendants, and you can use different greetings on each of your incoming lines, allowing sophisticated multi-tenant set-ups, different departments to have their own auto attendants, and automated distribution of frequently requested information such as your hours or location.
Record it yourself or get the professionals
You can record your auto attendant greetings yourself and change them any time, or you can upload professionally recorded files. TalkSwitch recommends the On Hold Network for highly professional recorded greetings.
Powerful, flexible control
You can configure your auto attendant to answer immediately or after as many as 9 rings, if you want a chance for your staff to answer first. You can have different lines answered after different numbers of rings, or with different auto attendants. And you have options for callers who don't have a touch-tone phone or who don't select any options at all.
Caller options at the auto attendant
When the auto attendant answers calls, callers can perform several options.
- Dial any local extension with its 3-digit number
- Dial any remote extension with its 3-digit number
- Use the dial-by-name directory to reach an extension
- Dial any ring group
- Leave a voicemail message at any extension's voice mailbox
- Jump to another auto attendant
- Listen to announcements
Music On Hold
While your callers are being transferred or while they're waiting on hold, TalkSwitch plays the music you choose or recorded messages that can advertise your company.
Music is better
Most callers will hang up within a minute if there's only silence on the line. TalkSwitch indicates that the line hasn't died with a default on hold beeping tone. Better yet, you can upload an audio file or attach any standard audio device to play music — a radio, CD player or MP3 player.
Advertise yourself
You're not limited to music, either. You can use any sound recording you want, including advertisements or information about your company or products. You've got a captive audience; sell yourself!
Ring Groups
Configure any group of Local Extensions to ring in unison. Forward and transfer calls to up to 10 Ring Groups either manually or through an auto attendant or call cascade sequence.
TalkSwitch supports 10 ring group assignments (with three-digit identifiers from 300 to 309) that are selectable from any Local Extension or the Auto Attendant greeting.
Each Ring Group has:
- Independent Call Cascade functionality.
- Individualized Distinctive Ring cadence.
- TalkSwitch's Call Screening feature.
Details
Treat each Ring Group as an internal department. Create a different ring cadence for each department so each department knows who is to answer by the sound of the ring. For example, dial '1' for sales and callers will reach anyone who is in the sales department with extensions 111, 112, 113, and 114.
Alternate Configurations
Example: You could be busy at work and not want to handle calls from the general public, yet you want to be alerted when your colleagues try to contact you.
Set up two methods of transferring calls to your phone.
- Extension 111 is your extension with a regular ring.
- Ring Group 300 has been configured to ring your extension only, but with a short-short ring pattern.
Now you have general public calls routed to extension 111 & have collegues route to Ring Group 300. Both ring your extension but with a different ring pattern.
